Don’t be fooled by the headline in this blog. We are not referring to low-end ceramic coatings which many company’s tend to throw the term around in order to make large profits. If we know what the word “ceramic” means by definition, we can see how it could be applied to many different things depending on which part of the definition you’re choosing to look at. “A ceramic is an inorganic non-metallic solid made up of either metal or non-metal compounds” . Great let’s make some CERAMIC putty…. See where I’m going with this?. Could mean a lot of things, right?
If you are a professional detailer the definition below is what we are standing by while referring to our coatings.
“Any nonmetallic solid which remains hard when heated. In general they are hard, corrosion-resistant and brittle.” Here in this blog is a photo of a crystalized professional coating.
Does it seem like the contents in a spray bottle are going to harden on your car and stay there for 1-5 years? Not really. Even some of the VERY best ones, which actually DO contain some of the same properties of a true coating , won’t see more than 6 months of protection TOPS in the Northwest. There are currently only 2 spray sealants which might last up to a year. Those sealants are not available for retail and are only available to professional detailer’s. Don’t get me wrong. Technology has come a long way and there are some great new quality products out now for DIY .
Lets get down to it!
